The power steering cylinder is basically a hydraulic ram that is attached to the steering linkage. As the pump creates pressure, it is sent to the steering box via the pressure hose. The steering box supplies the pressure to the power steering cylinder through its auxiliary ports via additional hoses, which either extend or retract the ram depending on which direction the steering input is turned.
